Mi'kmaw Language teachers nil
Millbrook is located just outside of the town of Truro. The population at the present time is six hundred and seventy-nine. The number of households is two hundred and ten.
Most of the children in Millbrook go to provincial schools in their area. The total number of children who attend is one hundred and fifty nine. According to MK stats, another fifty-one children (grades K-2) attend a band operated school in their community.
Because of intermarriage in the past several years, Millbrook has had fluent speakers from Restigouche and Eskasoni move to their community. This probably accounts for the number of speakers and those who understand the Mi'kmaw language.
Millbrook has eleven native teachers in their
community and one retired. Two of the teachers were raised in Eskasoni,
one is fluent and the other understands the language.
