Chiefs past and present from Waycobah Community 
Andrew Phillips was the first elected Indian Act chief of Waycobah in 1958  in 1982 MR. Roderick Googoo came in office until 1990. MR.Googoo established his reputation as a business man and opened Rod's One Stop located on the Trans Canada highway in Waycobah. 
The second election was held 2 years later by the department of the Indian affairs. Comunnity members of Waycobah elected Mr. Joseph Prosper.  He was elected for chief in 1960 and stayed in office until 1962. He was also re-elected in 1964 and held office until 1966. And on November 1, 1992 Morley Googoo became the youngest elected chief for the Waycobah community.  He is presently holding office as of now, 2001. 
The third  election for Waycobah gave office to Charles Bernard, defeating Chief Joseph Prosper.  Mr. Bernard held office for a period of 2 years from 1962 to 1964.

On June 29, 1966 Simon Googoo ran for office and was elected to hold office for two terms, from 1966-1970.  
In 1970 Mr. Noel J Bernard was elected to hold office from 1970 until 1972. A few years later he was the first RCMP officer for Waycobah under the Baddeck detachment.  
On November 1, 1972 Wayne Googoo was elected chief for two terms from 1972 to 1974 and remained in office until his untimely death.   
Ryan C Googoo  took over office on November 1, 1976 and stayed in office until 1982.
