The 1998 Peter Googoo Memorial Fishing Derby was also held in early September of 1998. The big tent returned but for one night, and the Jimmy Flynn entertainment was held at the rink. The big bingo was also held in the tent. There was also a men's and women's ball tournament with both Waycobah team's winning. The grand prize this year was a 1999 surburban which was won by Mary Ellen Phillips of Waycobah.
